When Jodie first contacted me I prayed she would choose me. The way she described the importance of not only the wedding but the meaning it would have made me want to be a part of it. You see Jodie never imagined meeting a man so humble, kind, and caring. Someone who not only loves her but her two girls as his own. Her grandmother had only one request – for Jodie to marry there at her home. Jodie, being the family oriented southern woman she is, of course agreed. And for this real-life loving photographer, I loved the significance of the location.

Steven and Jodie’s day was nothing short of perfect. With Steven’s daughter playing the flute, his son standing by his side, and Jodie’s girls walking her down the aisle, it was like a scene from a beautifully written love story. You know the kind they make movies about. To add to the beauty and sentiment of the day, Jodie’s dad would be waiting for her at the end of the aisle to give her away. Despite stopping cancer treatments and struggling with speech and balance, he would be there to not only give her away but speak the words “her mother and I”. This stopped me from where I stood. I saw the effort it took for him and the determination he had to be able to stand there and say those words. It was one of those moments I was thankful a camera covered my face. Tears streamed during their ceremony, from her dad giving her away to the promises they each made to each of the children. Their entire day was filled with just beautiful moments in time you want to stop and relish forever.
